The Silos at Magnolia

Do things in your life ever come together? I don't mean come together as in pieces all fall into place; gravitate or converge might be better words for what I mean. I'll give you an example. Have you ever been driving down an empty street, with no one else on the road, when suddenly both a bicyclist and another car appear? Now, you'd think that on an empty street there would be plenty of room, but inevitably all three of you end up in the same place at the same time, forcing everyone to slow down and figure out how to safely get by.

These kind of convergences were on my mind, because this week, we experienced a geographic convergence of inspirational forces. As you read this newsletter, Kim and I are at our favorite business school in Austin, Texas. At some point in April, I felt like I needed a dose of learning, so I signed us up for a class and here we are, knee deep in writing and characters and dialogue.

What I didn't realize at the time I booked the class was the convergence of inspirations in the Austin area. Kim has been reading and following Rachel Hollis lately. She wrote the books Girl Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing and she and her husband Dave do a Start Today Morning Show on social media. Their message has been inspiring us to get moving and do things: be healthier, be more intentional and to just get started on doing whatever it is you think you were made to do. Where do you think they live? Austin, Texas.

And then, not 90 minutes or so from the Austin area is the city that hosts our favorite HGTV show Fixer Upper. I'm sure you've seen it. Chip and Joanna Gaines fix up old houses around Waco, Texas, turning run down homes into amazing places to live. We love the style that they bring to the things they do (#shiplap) and used a little inspiration from them when we were repainting the nursery store this winter. Because we are so close to their hometown, we decided to check out some of their retail shops: Magnolia Table and Magnolia Market at The Silos. We had a great meal and took a zillion photographs of all the cool things they have done with the silos property.

Life has a way of bringing things together. It seemed unusual to us that all of these inspirational forces were clustered in this one geographic area. And you know what? We are going to use it as a sign to make sure that we are making things happen for the better, not just for ourselves, but for those around us too. We look forward to sharing some of our fun ideas with you soon.

Happy Gardening,
