Now is the Time,
Kerby's is the Place

December 3, 2015

Don't you just love Christmas in Florida.

Are you feeling this Florida weather? It's great for getting out in the garden and it really keeps everything growing. We cooked some turnips from our garden last night, still have lots of mustards and collards yet to harvest, and tomatoes that will hopefully ripen soon. With only warm weather in sight, there isn't much fear of them freezing. Great garden weather does make it a little harder to get into the Christmas spirit though. With all shorts and flip-flops weather and no jacket weather, singing White Christmas and Frosty the Snowman starts to feel a little silly.

Get in the Christmas Spirit at Kerby's

But never fear, Kerby's is here to get you into the Christmas spirit. The greenhouse is filled with lovely poinsettias, beautiful Christmas cactus and fun reindeer philodendron. Come out and enjoy a little Christmas cheer, while you find a gift for that hard-to-shop for gardener in your life (for some ideas, see below) or while you pick out some beautiful plants to make your home festive for Christmas. And don't forget, our Winter Open House is this Friday, December 4th, from 5pm to 7pm. Join us to enjoy some Christmas refreshments among the beautiful plants of the season.

Merry Christmas,

Great Garden Gifts

If someone you know is an avid gardener, then even during the winter, they are probably thinking about getting outside and playing in the dirt. There are so many cool things to do in the garden, even in the winter. See below for some great gift ideas that will be sure to make your favorite gardener smile.

Herb Garden Kit - Put together a collection of herbs, herb seeds and a pretty pair of gardening gloves and you've created the perfect little herb garden starter kit, "Just in Thyme for Christmas".

Veggie Garden Kit - If your favorite gardener can't wait to start their spring veggie garden, give them a head start. An assortment of cool veggie seeds, seed starting mix and garden trowel and they'll be ready to start when spring arrives. Want to take it up a notch? Package everything in an Earthbox Kit and they'll be ready for amazing harvests. And who knows, maybe they'll share some of their bounty with you.

Unique Plants - If herbs and veggies aren't their thing, maybe they just need a really cool plant for their collection. A beautiful orchid, a pitcher plant (pictured) or a hoya would probably do the trick. Kerby's always has something different that will put a smile on a gardener's face.

Container Garden - A beautiful pot, with colorful flowers pouring out of it will dress up anyone's home. Pick from the beautiful pottery at Kerby's and then have us help you design the perfect thriller, filler and spiller combination of flowers and plants. We'll get you set up with everything you need to plant the garden yourself or you can have Kerby's plant it for you (additional charges would apply for planting services.)

Fruit Trees - "I don't have room in my garden for plants that don't produce something I can eat." That's a quote from Kim and Mark's grandfather. If you know a gardener who doesn't have room for anything but edibles, then maybe a fruit tree should be on your shopping list.

If you're stuck trying to decide on a gift, why not give the gift that gets better next spring, a Kerby's gift card. Add the promise of spending time together in the garden and you've got an amazing present for someone you love.
